Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament)

(This page is fully functional, but the list of Lectionary passages is still under construction.  We're working on it!  If you want to post something and don't see the passage you're looking for in the list, don't wait for us to get to it.  Just pull on your hard hat and create a page for it yourself, using the lectionary chapter and verse citation as the title - example: "Genesis 1:1-2:4a").  Then, you can branch your contribution from that page.  Do-it-yourself is the Wiki Way.)

The Bible passages listed below include those that occur in the Revised Common Lectionary.  Users may add non-Lectionary passages to the list, as well.

If you add a new page for a biblical passage, please don't copy your material directly into that page, but rather branch a second page from it.

Generally speaking, it's best that topical material be filed in the topical "Quotations and Illustrations" section, so it can be more broadly available to those working with other scripture texts.  Background notes and commentary directly related to particular texts, or to a biblical book as a whole may be posted here.  Think of this section as a huge, online Bible-study notebook, to which lots of preachers have the ability to add their own thoughts, impressions and knowledge.

For more information, click on "How to Post" in the main menu to the left.

(By the way, in case you're wondering - in the list below, the letters in parentheses before the names of books of the Bible have no meaning.  They're just a workaround, to make the computer sort them in standard Bible order, rather than alphabetically.)
